About this project
Hi! I'm Stephanie. Thank you for taking the time to visit my site and considering offering information about your experience via this survey. Here's a bit of background on the reason and purpose for the information gathering that I'm doing:
Over the last couple years, I've been engrossed in the development of a program that aims to teach people how to offer the tools of yoga therapy, yoga & mindfulness to children with hearing loss. The program will have three separate lives for three different audiences:
Why Yoga Therapy & Mindfulness for Children with Hearing Loss?
Children of all abilities and backgrounds can benefit greatly from mindful breathing and yoga poses to increase focus, body awareness, self-regulation, communication and self-esteem through visualization strategies, games, hands-on activities, and modifications.
In the case of children with hearing loss, some children may face challenges in building positive relationships, communication, social-emotional development, behavioural regulation, academic development, and more. This can be due to numerous factors, including missing early auditory input, a reduced ability to overhear conversations and a potential need for explicit information and instructions on topics such as emotions and behaviour. Others may struggle with anxiety, nervousness, or a sense of disconnection. Therapeutically-focused yoga employs a variety of focused and effective tools and techniques to address many of these concerns.

What I Would Like to Achieve by Surveying Parents & Professionals
I know that the breadth of your experience as a parent, professional, or educator of child(ren) with hearing loss is quite wide, and that it would be difficult to distill all the information in one survey. However the information you provide in these specific areas will be used to help inform me when creating content for my programs that represent a breadth of opinions and experiences from the community of people that serve our children. My main goal is to learn what areas are of most significance / challenge in the lives of children with hearing loss and their families and if there are any patterns in different groups within the hearing loss community so that programs developed can attend to these areas from the yoga therapy perspective.
Individual surveys will not be shared with anyone and no personally identifying information is needed from you to participate, unless you would like to receive updates on my projects or eventually take one of the workshops. I reserve the right to make final decisions on how content is presented and taught within my programs based on my professional fields of expertise.
If you have any questions before you proceed, please feel free to contact me at: stephanie(at)banyantreeyt.com.
A BIG Thank You for your time and contributions!

Over the last couple years, I've been engrossed in the development of a program that aims to teach people how to offer the tools of yoga therapy, yoga & mindfulness to children with hearing loss. The program will have three separate lives for three different audiences:
- A continuing education program for yoga professionals (teachers, therapists and educators) that wish to effectively serve this community.
- A program for all other professionals/educators that already work with children with hearing loss to acquire the skills necessary to share yoga-based mindfulness with the children with whom they work.
- A workshop for parents and caregivers of children with hearing loss to acquire the skills necessary to integrate yoga-based mindfulness into their family routine.
